RELEVANT PROGRAM OF WORK
Situation Future Directions was a complex social housing reform that stemmed over 26 programs, each with their own governance structures. The deliverables included the articulation of high level functional, business and technology requirements to meet social housing IT requirements over 10 years. The ICT component of Future Directions was not initially supported by the business due to the nebulous scope of work.
Task As Commercial & Program Manager for DCJ responsibilities included the delivery of IT projects comprising the Future Directions program, data centre relocation, migration and decommissioning, upgrade of the HOMES software application (the core business software), in addition to the project evaluation and successful delivery of 20-25 IT projects annually.
Action Stakeholder engagement across all 26 programs and the broader DCJ agency was critical to define enterprise wide technical strategy and day to day requirements, and ensure integrated technology to achieve optimal outcomes for strategy, operational and business requirements. Identifying gaps, resolving issues and focusing on win-win outcomes without diluting the requirements of the client was essential. Leading and partnering with stakeholders to establish business acumen for budget planning, including the management of resources, and the development, oversight and implementation of an effective risk management framework across the agency to ensure compliance, support decision making and budget planning was instrumental to the program’s success.
Result Key achievements included the development and approval of high-level business requirements, functional bundles, conceptual architecture and business capability overlay for the future state. Plus the seamless upgrade of the HOMES software application, data centre relocation, migration and decommissioning across 26 programs.
